Common Errors & Fixes

PDF Loading Issues
"Could not load PDF file"
Cause: The PDF may be corrupted, password-protected, or in an unsupported format.
Fix: Try opening the PDF in another viewer to verify it works. If it's password-protected, remove the password first. Re-save the PDF from your original software and try again.
Blank pages appear in output
Cause: Some PDFs contain empty pages that weren't visible in the original document.
Fix: Use the page range selector to exclude blank pages. Check your original document for any empty pages between content pages.
Layout Problems
Pages are cut off or misaligned
Cause: Incorrect page size settings or mismatched PDF page dimensions.
Fix: Verify that your PDF page size matches your intended output. Adjust the scaling options in QuickUps: try "Fit to sheet" or "Shrink oversized pages."
Text is too small to read
Cause: Placing too many pages per sheet, or the original PDF uses small fonts.
Fix: Reduce the number of pages per sheet (e.g., switch from 16-up to 8-up or 4-up). If using A4 pages, try imposing onto A3 sheets for larger output.
Performance Issues
Slow processing with large PDFs
Cause: Very large PDF files (hundreds of pages or high-resolution images) require more processing time.
Fix: Split the PDF into smaller sections, reduce image resolution in the original file, or close other browser tabs to free up memory. See the Performance Tips article for detailed guidance.
Browser becomes unresponsive
Cause: QuickUps processes files in-browser. Extremely large files can exceed available memory.
Fix: Use a modern browser (Chrome or Edge recommended for best performance). Process files in smaller batches. If the issue persists, try a different browser.
